Why You Never Seem To Have Enough Hours In The Day

If you ask the average entrepreneur how they’re doing, you’re likely to get some variation on “busy.” People at the top of business must dart here, there, and everywhere to do everything they need to get done. Sometimes, it is a dizzying experience just watching them go about their daily activities.

Perhaps that sounds a lot like you!

It turns out, though, that there is some science behind why you always feel as if there aren’t enough hours in the day. And, to the surprise of many, it has comparatively little to do with the amount of work you have to get through.

Here are some of the reasons you never seem to have enough hours in the day and what to do about it.

You Don’t Say “No” To People

Many of us are “people pleasers.” We like saying “yes” when asked because we want other people to like us. It’s a terrible habit.

If you look at some of the most successful people in the world, they have a habit of saying “no.” It is how they maintain their focus and ensure that they don’t get side-tracked by random issues. If in doubt, always say no to people. Otherwise, delegate.

You’re Managing Your Computer Network

Today’s businesses rely on their computer systems and software solutions to help them get through the day. Without them, they can’t manage remote employees, allocate work, communicate with customers, or develop data-driven marketing strategies. Thus to say that company IT networks are important is the understatement of the century.

A lot of entrepreneurs, though, still believe that the best approach is to take on the job of managing these networks themselves – not a good idea.

On a personal level, outsourcing means fewer panicked emails in your inbox, less time troubleshooting, and, hopefully, less downtime too.

You Don’t Eat Right

What you eat probably has more of an impact on your performance than anything else. Smart leaders in business know that their choice of food can have profound ramifications on the amount of work that they can get done in the day.

Unfortunately, business leaders often take two approaches when it comes to diet. On the one hand, there are trendy tech bros who want to live forever and choose to skip multiple meals throughout the day, eating only in the evening. And on the other, some corporate executives spend the entire day chowing down on delicious treats from the cake trolley. Neither of these approaches is a good idea.

What you eat can directly affect your emotions and overall sense of wellbeing. Where possible, try to stick with unprocessed foods as they come out of the ground or off the tree. You’ll find that it helps you concentrate.

What are you doing to get more time in your day?
