6 Ways to Be More Active Every Day

Most of us know we should probably be more active but few of us have the time.  In a world full of appointments and schedules, it can be impossible to carve out time for a couple of hours at the gym or train for a marathon.

However, getting more active does not have to be more time-consuming.  The trick with being active is to find ways of sneaking more activity into your day.

That way you are working out and getting fitter and healthier without even realizing you are doing it.  Here are 6 great ways to be more active every day.

Review Your Route to Work

If you work reasonably close to where you live, could you walk or cycle rather than getting in the car?

This can help to improve your fitness immensely and you only need to do it a couple of times per week to feel the benefit.

Depending on what your journey to work is like, it may even be quicker for you to walk or cycle as you won’t be stuck in traffic or having to drive around in circles looking for a parking space.

Use the Stairs.

Once you are at work, use the stairs as much as you can rather than the elevator.

This is a great workout for your thighs, hips, and bum and it won’t take long for you to feel fitter and tighter.

Talk to Co-Workers.

It can be easy to sit at your desk all day and send e-mails to co-workers you need to communicate with.  However, getting up and walking across the office to speak to them instead will help you to be more active.

The other benefits of doing this are that you can have a real-time conversation and you won’t need to wait for them to send a reply.  There is no chance of what you needed to say getting lost in translation either.

Work Out at Home

If you find that you are unable to get to the gym or sports field, then why not work out at home instead?

There is some fantastic workout equipment that will easily fit into a home gym or garden. For example, a pitching machine that simulates fastballs up to 90mph can help you practice in the off-season.

This is a piece of sports equipment that will keep you motivated for hours and will help to improve your game for those occasions when you can make it to the ballpark.

Make It Social

Make your workout a social event.  Rather than arranging to meet up with friends for dinner or a beer, how about arranging to go for a walk or bike ride instead?

You can still spend quality time with your buddies, but you will be able to get more active at the same time.  This will make you feel both fitter and wealthier, as you have not had to pay for dinner.

Do Some Housework

Getting the housework done may seem like a chore but it is a great way to get active.

Doing a couple of hours of housework will give you a good workout and the more you vary your chores, the more muscles you will work. You may need a rest after all that physical exertion, but at least you will have a really clean house to relax in.

Here are some great ways of fitting more activity into your day.  You may not notice you are doing it at the time, but all that exercise will certainly pay off and you will start to feel fitter and healthier quite quickly.
