Understanding the Differences Between Cannabis and CBD Flower

March 7, 2020 by Christopher

Cannabis is one of the most controversial topics in the United States. While it is legal in 13 states for medical use and 11 states for recreational use, it is still banned in a lot of states.

However, there is an alternative for cannabis that has gained some popularity in recent years called CBD flower. While there are a lot of similarities in both drugs, there are quite a few differences as well. Both differ in appearance, content, and applications.

According to floridaindependent, Hemp is a plant that comes from cannabis and is used for seeding and planting. These flowers are high in CBD, and that is what is derived from them.

The cannabis plant, however, contains THC as well, and it is popular for its psychoactive properties. CBD hemp is used for seeds and food as well, while cannabis cannot be used similarly. Click here to get Hemp wholesale products.

Let’s have a look at what differentiates CBD hemp from cannabis and which one is better.

Visual Difference

Both the plants are different in appearance and can be told apart easily. The cannabis plant is bushier and has much bigger leaves, and the flowers you will find on this plant will be dense.

But when it comes to industrial hemp farms CBD flower, it is much smaller and has thinner leaves, which are only growing out of the top. That is why the flowers on it are also smaller.

However, it grows taller than the cannabis plant due to its characteristics.

Content Difference

When it comes to cannabis content, there is a huge difference between both the plants. There are more than 100 chemical cannabinoids present in the CBD. But make no mistake!

The number of chemicals could be different in marijuana. The most prominent component of cannabis is THC chemical which is responsible for the psychoactive properties of the plant.

The level of THC can be really high in a Cannabis plant, and it can reach up to thirty percent as well. The percentage of the THC depends a lot on the strain type as well.

On the other hand, the most active cannabinoid present in CBD hemp is CBD. It is not psychoactive at all and is widely popular among people who have considered marijuana for medical usage.

The amount of THC available in the hemp plant is less than 0.3%, which means it is completely legal as well. CBD interacts directly with the body’s immune system, and that is why a lot of people get pain relief from its use.

After learning the medicinal benefits of cannabis, you may well be interested in growing it yourself. To get started, you’ll need to purchase some quality seeds. This article by GreenBudGuru will point you in the right direction.

Effectiveness

If you compare the effectiveness of both as a drug, then cannabis is the clear winner here. Because of the THC presence, cannabis becomes intoxicating and can get a person high as well.

CBD hemp does not have much THC in it, and that is why it is perfect for medicinal use. It does not get you high; in fact, after consuming it, you will feel more relaxed and stress-free.

Uses and Applications

Both CBD hemp and cannabis have a wide range of uses. For starters, cannabis is used by people for the recreational purpose of getting high at parties. But it is not the recreational use that makes it popular.

Cannabis can be used for medicinal purposes as well. A lot of people have claimed that they have used cannabis for conditions like chronic pain, neurological disorders, and sleep disorders and have seen great success.

When it comes to extracting CBD from hemp, it is mostly used as a dietary supplement, and it is easily available in the market in different forms.

People have been consuming CBD in the form of oil and capsules, and they have also admitted that it helped them with conditions like anxiety as well.

Legal Difference

This is where things get interesting! People think that CBD derived from different plants are different in structure, but that is not the truth.

No matter where CBD is derived from, it always has the same chemical characteristics. Hemp flower CBD is widely considered legal because it only has 0.3% of THC in it.

So if you are using a medication that claims it has this much THC, then it is completely legal. Cannabis, on the other hand, is legal in some states and banned in others, so you will have to see if your state is eligible for its use or not.
