When you’re looking to apply for a new job, start a business, or even go freelance, it’s essential that you can stand out. In life, we all sort of want to blend in – in fact, we’re told too.
But, when you want to land a killer job, get a freelance project, and aim to launch a successful business, being one of the many isn’t necessarily a selling feature. Instead, it can hinder you. It can be one of those things that you do that actually stops you from being able to get the one thing that you want.
And so, you need to come up with a plan that is going to allow you to stand out more. Let’s take a look at a handful of things that will allow you to do this.
#1 Have An Edge
First of all, you need to make sure that you have some kind of an edge. Do not just be the same as everyone else. Think of it as a USP. What can you do that nobody else can?
Or that is unique to you? Get more experience, speak a language, do things differently – this is the best way to stand out.
#2 Create A Website
Another thing that can help you to have an edge is a website. It’s important for you to be able to showcase what you can do.
And, if you are looking for a job, then this is a great way to show off your skills, experience, and what you can do.
#3 Be Creative
It’s also a good idea to try and be as creative as you can with your approach to this too. Sometimes, it’s easy to find yourself being a little too professional and serious, and you can come across as stuffy and boring.
So why not change things up? You could look into video production or getting professional photos taken. This can help you to add some personality to your website, resume, or anything else that you’re doing.
The next thing that will help you here, is for you to think about networking a little more. It’s easy to be afraid of networking. Or to think that it’s scary to put yourself out there and meet new people.
But, making connections can open new doors for you. And if you really want to climb the career ladder, or you want to find yourself a business opportunity, meeting new people and putting yourself out there can allow you to do this.
#5 Go Above & Beyond
And finally, if you really do want to make sure that you can stand out, you absolutely need to make sure that you go above and beyond.
If you are the exact same as every other candidate for a job interview or every other business, you will never stand out – and this could become an issue.
So instead, you need to go the extra mile. Stay later, do extra work, do more for your customers, provide extra value – all of this will help you to stand out.
So what are you doing to stand out in your business?
