4 Easy Ways to Show a Child You Care

Source

If you have kids in your life, there’s no doubt you care about them. Whether they’re your own, you’re an educator, or you have nieces and nephews, we all have at least one kid in our life who we care about. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean they understand just how much we care!

Caring for a child means showing them you care so there’s no doubt in their mind that they can count on you. It doesn’t have to be hard to show them either! Here are four easy ways you can show a child of any age that you care.

#1 Know the Right Way to Send Them Money

The easiest way to show a child you care is to send them money, but that doesn’t mean it’s effective. There are plenty of children from wealthy families who don’t feel like the adults in their life care about them.

How you send the money is key. Send money to a college kid studying abroad to help pay for books, pay for an adult child to get a massage, or buy a gift card to the child’s favorite store. Personalize the giving of money and it will mean much more.

#2 Don’t Say No Unless There’s a Reason

If you have a toddler, you probably say no a lot. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways you can rephrase things so you don’t sound so negative!

It’s not just toddlers that get “No” all the time. Do you say no when your kid asks you to play on the playground? When do they want to play a game, or go to the store?

Show them you care by not saying no unless there’s a good reason. It will give you the opportunity to build positive memories together, and it will make them feel like you think they have good ideas.

#3 Show Affection

Showing affection is one of the quickest and easiest ways to show a child you care! It can mean giving them a hug, but there are plenty of other ways to show children of all ages that you care about them:

  • Tell the child you love them often
  • Leave notes in their lunch box
  • Write them a heartfelt letter or email
  • Bring home something small, just because

#4 Ask for Their Opinion

It’s easy for little kids to feel like they’re always being bossed around by adults, but even adult children can feel that way! No matter what their age, it always pays to ask their opinion.

That can mean asking them something small, like what you should have for dinner, or something big, like where the family should go on vacation. By asking their opinion, you can boost their self-esteem, and show them you care about what they think.

Don’t think the child in your life knows you care—show them you care! It doesn’t have to be difficult, and it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money either. With the tips on this list, you can build a closer, happier relationship today.
