5 Easy Ways To Come Up With A Business Idea

July 22, 2018 by Christopher

When you know that you want to go into business for yourself, it can be an incredibly exciting prospect. But at the same time, you may find that it can be difficult to work out exactly what you want to do.

Because there are so many different kinds of businesses out there – selling, servicing, and more – how are you meant to pick what to do? And more importantly – how are you to know what is right for you?

Ideally, you want this to be a success. Whether you’re thinking about e-commerce or freelancing, setting up a store, or creating an office, you need to work out what your product or service will actually be. So let’s consider some really simple ways that you can do that.

#1 Look At What You Love

One of the best ways to start here is to consider what you love doing. What are you passionate about? Maybe it’s a topic – like fashion. Maybe it’s a role – like marketing. Just think about what you love in your career and in your life.

Maybe you want to open an animal shelter? Maybe you want to make cookies? Just be real and honest with yourself. Write a list of the things you love and see if there are any business ideas hidden in there that you’re already getting excited about.

#2 Look At What You’re Good At

Next, you’re going to want to think about what you’re good at. Here, you’re not necessarily thinking about what you like to do, but what you know that you can do well. What are your strengths?

What have you always excelled at? Maybe you’re a great people person? Or you’ve got really strong numerical skills? When you break it down like this, you can often match things up with the list of stuff you love and you’ll find some strong contenders for your business idea.

#3 Consider Your Experience

From here, you’ve then got to think about your experience. What industry are you already working in? Or what roles have you done? You’ll often find that there’s something in your experience that you can use to launch your business.

#4 Consider A Franchise

Or maybe you want to launch a business that you know will be successful from the start? Then why not consider going with a franchise? Go to the IFA Annual Convention 2019 and see what options are available.

You may find that a ready-made business idea is exactly what you’re looking for.

#5 Solve One Of Your Own Problems

Finally, another really great and simple way to come up with a business idea is to solve a problem. While it’s not always that easy to think of problems that consumers may have as a whole, it’s much easier for you to solve one of your own problems that to think one up!

Say you’re experiencing an issue with something, or you wish that there was something that exists to solve your problem.

Then do it. Create a business that solves the problem, because if you’re having issues, others may be too. And it’s an easy way to launch a business that is likely to be a success.

What are you doing to come up with a business idea?
