Extracts: What Are They and Why Are They Used?

July 7, 2020 by Christopher

Vaporization, otherwise known as vaping, is one of the more popular ways to try out products such as CBD oil and can offer a number of different benefits to the user.

However, one area that beginners to vaping often find themselves struggling with is the concept and use of extracts. While the term itself is rather popular and used in many circles, a lot of people don’t actually understand what an extract, what it’s used for, and what benefits it comes with.

So in this post, we’re going to help clear up some information about extracts and give you a better understanding of what they are.

What is an Extract?

An extract is a wax or oil that has been extracted from the marijuana plant. Wax is one of the most common forms of extract, but it can also be brittle and solid. Solid extracts can often have different effects compared to softer variants.

The extraction process can also create potent substances that have up to 90% THC content. This is why many extracts are also known as concentrates due to the high amount of THC content.

However, it’s also possible to create the inverse. Some impressive extraction methods can create oils and waxes that contain almost no THC yet be extremely rich in CBD content.

This gives extracts many use cases and is also why many people are confused about how to use and buy extracts.

Using Extracts

First, it’s important to understand that concentrates and extracts can be very dangerous depending on the process. In fact, many people consider it an art to be able to extract different compounds from the original plant.

In addition, the plant itself can play a huge role in the type of extract it produces. This is why it’s important to rely on reputable experts such as Daniel Fung of Watertown CT. This will ensure that your product is safe to use, is as advertised, and can deliver a unique vaping experience than off-the-shelf products and cheaper varieties can’t offer.

Extracts and concentrates are used in the same way. In most cases, they can be added to pre-filled concentrate vapes or vape pens that have a tank or chamber. This is great for portable use, but there are also coils that allow you to experience the full flavor of the extract or concentrate. There are also quartz bowls that are loaded with the concentrate or extract and then heated to a certain temperature.

Hopefully, this article has served as a brief but informative guide on extracts. While extracts can be a great way to experience the effects of marijuana, it’s important to look for a manufacturer or extractor that understands what they’re doing.

The safest way to do this is to look for big-name brands in your local area. If you prefer something a little more artisanal, then there are a number of designer-like extract artists in the industry that can offer a more unique experience.
