If you are a small business or you’re not really delved into the area of marketing before, you may not realize just how integral it can be to the success of your business.

Today we are going to talk about ways to see if your marketing strategy is up to scratch, and how to improve it.

 

Set a Clear Plan

As you plan your marketing strategy for any business, you must set out a clear plan with steps, objectives and a final aim. There’s no use just aiming to ‘get more followers’ because that isn’t a clear enough plan.

You need to quantify your values in order to allow you to know when you’ve hit the deadline: for example, ‘get 100 followers’. You can then set yourself a deadline and see how many you gained by the end of the time.

Often, day-to-day marketing will involve communicating with your clients and customer base through email, social media and on your website.

You’ll be creating email campaigns to highlight offers and new launches, posting to social media every day to spark a conversation in the community and engage with your audience, and update your website content regularly in order to stay up to date and pull in views.

Your plan will need to start by identifying key times of the year: for example when the budget is planned and also seasonal events such as Christmas and Halloween.

You will need to time your campaigns throughout the year with these events in order to stay relevant and gain a better following.

 

Social Media Platforms

Ideally, you’ll want a schedule which involves activities a few times a week or every day.

Where social media is concerned this will depend upon the platforms you use: Facebook should be once a day, Twitter should be multiple times a day, and Instagram can be every 2 days.

You will need to learn how to effectively use these social media tools and the tone of voice you need to put across. If you want to be a little more casual in your tone of voice- then you can also take advantage of when popular TV shows and films are out- and make marketing campaigns around those.

Lots of companies did this earlier in the year when Game of Thrones Season 7 was released, and it boosted many people’s accounts.

In the end, you need to remember to only do what feels natural for your company, and learn to have a little fun with it. Marketing is a creative side of the business and you can take advantage of this.
