Going That Extra Mile: How to Do More & Achieve More in Your Career

Source

Everyone has particular career goals that they want to achieve before they retire.

This is completely normal. But having some vague goals in the back of your mind is not the same as taking concrete steps to achieve them.

To make that happen, you really do need to go that extra mile in an effort to do more and achieve more than you have so far. Here are some great tips that will help you to do exactly that.

Work Hard Not Long

This is one of the key secrets that you should carry with you when you are trying to achieve more in your career.

When you work hard, you can get more done and make the most of every hour that you spend at work. But when you work long, you tend to take your work home with you.

This might seem like a good idea because you can get more work done each day. However, this is not necessarily the logical step to take. You can end up burning out because of overworking. In the end, this will negatively impact the work you do.

Provide Something That Others Aren’t or Can’t

Next, you should try to do something and offer something that no one else is. This is the perfect way to make yourself stand out from the crowd.

When there are dozens of people taking on the same things at the same time, it’s hard to make a name for yourself.

That’s why it’s so important to try new things and take a new approach to the work that you do. For example, if you’re a doctor, you could use the best telemedicine company for doctors.

If other doctors are not doing this, you will be able to attract more patients to you. And that’s just one example.

Always Have Your Sights Set on the Next Promotion

You should never stop growing and improving in your career.

This might seem like an obvious thing to say, but it’s true. When you are able to grow and improve, you will hit new heights.

Unfortunately, many people will simply put their feet up and accept the success they have found thus far. But if you get too comfortable with your current position, you could start to slip backwards in your career.

That’s the last thing you need, so don’t allow it to happen. Instead, keep your sights set on the next big promotion.

Don’t Just Do the Minimum

Finally, you should think about how you carry out your work. If you are one of those people who prefer to do the minimum that’s required of you, you will probably get left behind and never progress.

This is what going the extra mile is all about. You have to do more than what people expect from you. You need to push further and show people why you are better than everyone else around you.

It’s not always easy to go further than everyone else. But it is necessary if you want the best results.

So what are you doing to achieve more in your career and get ahead?   Have you tried any the tips I’ve shared in this article?  If so how did it work for you, I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Cheers!
